Non-Traditional Deans
Cristina Amon, Marie-Noelle Bonicalzi and Joni Seager come together on this panel to discuss the following issues:
- the multifaceted challenges they have confronted in their journey to becoming Dean
- issues and strategies for dealing with a traditionally male dominated culture
- response/reactions of their male (and female) colleagues to a female Dean; response of students
- reflections on being a leader, role model and/or mentor
- what they wish they had known before they accepted the appointment and wherever else your questions take them!
Enhancing Diversity in Leadership
Vicki Bismilla, Susan Black, Nandini Farkas and Charmaine Williams will focus on the intersection of leadership, diversity and gender in the academic context. Some of the issues that may be addressed are:
- challenges for diversity and for diversity in leadership
- responding to increasing diversity on campus
- institutional initiatives for moving diversity forward on campus
- strategies for inspiring more junior diverse women to consider academic leadership roles.
Workshop: Dispute Resolution
Colleen Hanycz is planning a highly interactive session with the overall goal of providing tools for addressing disputes that involve oneself and handling disputes between others. Situations particular to academic institutions will be addressed.
